Chico is a 10yr old cavalier, he is neutered, microchipped, flea and worm treated and will be rehomed with 5 weeks free pet insurance.

Chico came to us after his owner passed away, he was passed around a few family members but it was impractical for them to keep him so he made his way to us. We were told he had a clean bill of health but upon seeing our vets he was found to have a grade 3/4 heart murmur, needed a dental and was a bit underweight so he was started immediately on medication to support his heart whilst we built him up for his dental (and castrate at the same time). He had a few teeth removed and the rest all cleaned, he wasnt the best under anaesthetic so our vets have recommended he should only ever go under again when absolutely necessary. The heart meds have definitely helped him to behave more energy and he continues to slowly gain some weight.

Chico is a very affectionate little lad, he loves a fuss and to get on your lap on the sofa. He enjoys being groomed and still loves to play with his toys which he will bring to you to play with.

We have seen instances of guarding behaviour from Chico, he must not have long lasting treats or chews and he has also guarded a cushion randomly which did result in his fosterer getting bitten when she approached him. APPLICANTS NEED TO BE FULLY AWARE OF HOW RESOURCE GUARDING MANIFESTS ITSELF AND HOW TO HANDLE CORRECTLY OR YOU MAY GET BITTEN.

Chico is very good with other dogs, he can be a little nervous when first meeting but soon warms to friendly dogs and he has enjoyed having canine company in his foster home. We are happy to consider homes with another gentle neutered dog.

Chico is used to having plenty of company so wouldn't want to be left for long periods. He does however sleep downstairs quietly at night. He walks nicely on the lead, travels ok in the car and is housetrained. We dont know how he feels about cats.

Due to Chico's resource guarding he cannot be rehomed with children or where there are small visiting children.

Being fostered in Swadlincote, Derbyshire but can be rehomed further afield subject to homecheck and donation of £200.
