We are heartbroken that poor Cookie once again finds herself looking for her forever home after she has needed to come back to us through absolutely no fault of her own, her new owners are devastated as they adored this beautiful girl but in a cruel twist of fate it meant they couldn't continue to care for her

Cookie is a young (around 2yrs) old Chow Chow girl, she is spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, flea and worm treated and will be rehomed with 5 weeks free pet insurance.

Cookie came to us from the stray pound so we have no background on her before her arrival with us but it was clear to see she hadn't had the best care. Whilst not in the worst state, she was underweight, had a matted coat, a urine infection and needed entropion surgery on her eyes where her eyelashes were rubbing her eyes. This has all now been fixed and she is so ready to find her new forever family who will continue to take proper care of her, we did think we had found her new home but it wasn't quite the right match with her and the other resident dog.

Despite everything Cookie is an AMAZING girl, she is a lively, very energetic little Chow who is dinky for the breed (currently around 23kg). She’s a proper pocket rocket! She absolutely loves to run and will happily zoom around the paddocks at full speed, but like many Chows, she also enjoys slower, sniffy walks too.

When it comes to people, Cookie can be typically wary at first, but within minutes, once she knows you are a friend, she is incredibly affectionate and will seek out cuddles and attention, a real sweetheart.

True to her breed, Cookie can be a little stubborn, so she’ll suit someone with Chow experience but she is very intelligent, quick to learn, and responds well to reward-based training (just don’t expect her to come back once she’s off running so a long line or access to a secure field is needed!).

She enjoys being brushed now the matts are all gone but will need a groomer who understands the breed and will take the time to build her trust. Regular grooming is essential—especially daily attention around her ears and under her legs. We had to remove some really horrible matts from those areas.

Cookie is generally fine with other dogs that are of similar size to her or smaller, larger or bouncy in your face type dogs can intimidate her so she could happily live as an only dog with plenty of human company or with the right, well-matched neutered companion (she gets on great with the other chow in her foster home).

She loves her food, treats and chew toys, sleeps fine at night downstairs with another dog and has never been destructive.

Cookie does have a strong drive and she will chase birds and cats and small animals like squirrels etc. She has now been assessed around children and is great with children who will respect her space, she has a sweet temperament once introduced properly so we are happy to consider homes with sensible quieter dog savvy children aged 6yrs and over.

Cookie will need a secure garden as although she’s not a big dog, she’s more than capable of hopping over baby gates, squeezing under fences, or finding her way through if there’s something she wants on the other side.

She is not the typical ploddy aloof Chow- she’s a busy little dynamo of a dog!
Being fostered in Shifnal, Shrop's but can be rehomed further afield to the right experienced home subject to home check and adoption donation of £250.
