PLEASE READ THE WRITE UP CAREFULLY AND ONLY APPLY IF YOU MEET THE CRITERIA, THESE BOYS ARE SEEKING A HOME TOGETHER.

Kinder (8yrs) and Tobé (3-4yrs) are two chocolate working cocker spaniel boys, they are castrated, fully vaccinated, flea and worm treated and Kinder has also had a dental with us. They have a clean bill of health and will be rehomed with 5 weeks free pet insurance.

The boys have been in our foster care for a couple of months after coming to us from a large kennel based rescue after being given up along with four others from what is believed to have been a puppy farm. Kinder was really struggling in kennels and was really shut down, they needed to come into a home environment to learn fully about life and have a chance to decompress.

Initially they were in separate foster homes, but after a couple of weeks Tobé was moved to join Kinder. It was clear that they were very happy to see each other, and that they had a special bond, they are likely to be related, possibly even father and son even though Kinder is a lot smaller.

Both are lovely natured boys that get on great with other dogs and cats. They have shown no signs of aggression or guarding whatsoever. They are little characters that like to steal things hide them in their bed but will happily give said items up to humans or other dogs.

Unfortunately, having spent all their lives in kennels, they have had to learn how to be domesticated pets. Everything was new and frightening for them, they had no idea how to walk on leads but after lots of gentle encouragement hey now love their rural walks with the other resident dogs, but this will require further ongoing work in their new home. They have only been walked in very quiet rural areas, so are likely to be scared in built up areas and with traffic so they are looking for a lovely rural home with easy access to nice countryside walks. If you had some enclosed land of your own that would be even better.

Neither dog was toilet trained on arrival and whilst this is much improved it will still require some more work especially when they first arrive in a new home. If the door to the garden is open, they never toilet in the house, but if it is shut, they don’t yet know to wait nor tell you that they need to go which is understandable given their background.

Both dogs were fearful of humans human touch, but this is improving daily with the help of treats and bonding sessions. Tobé will take treats from you, Kinder will now enjoy a good head rub! They love to snuggle up in bed together and  sleep quietly all night. They love lying on the sofa with the other resident dogs too.

They are both really starting to come out of their shells but now need a forever home together where they can continue to thrive. They have lots of energy, so will need a large secure garden to play in and lots of walks. They really are a lovely pair, now with constant wagging (docked) tails. You hardly know you’ve got them, they’re very quiet have no separation anxiety so are ok to be left together for a few hours during the daytime.

They are good with the vets, travel ok in the car even though scared and were good having a groom.  They can love with other neutered dogs, are fine with cats and will be ok with quieter gentle children aged 8yrs and over.

Being fostered in Swadlincote, South Derby's but can be rehomed further afield subject to home check and adoption donation of £500 for the pair.
