Marge is a 13yr old shih tzu girl, she is spayed, microchipped, flea
and worm treated and also had a full dental with us, she will be
rehomed with 5 weeks free pet insurance.
Marge came to us as a severe welfare case, she had spent many years living in absolute squalor in a filthy home with hardly any room to move, she was literally running in fleas, was matted, stinking and
totally emaciated weighing just 4kg.
Once in our care she immediately received the much needed veterinary care she needs, her bloods showed infection and anaemia from the fleas that had been feeding off her. Her skin was sore and dry from neglect under that filthy coat.
Marge was having small meals throughout the day with us to slowly get her used to having enough food again, she was so grateful to be clean, warm and not feeling starving. Once a bit stronger she had a lovely professional groom and although she still has lots of hair that needs to grow back she is now neat and tidy and so much more comfortable. Her coat will continue to grow back over the coming weeks but in the meantime she is very happy to wear her snuggle coats and jumpers to keep her cosy.
Marge has gained over a third of her body weight so far, she still has
more to gain which her new home can continue to help her with, she
does have some age related changes to her eyes but she can still see
ok to get around without any bother. Her recent follow up bloods were all much improved and her vital organs are all absolutely fine.
Marge is an absolute sweetheart with people that she meets, amazing considering how awfully she was treated for so long. She loves getting on your lap and her favourite place is in front of the fire in her cosy bed. She does love to be with you and sleep in the bedroom at night.
Marge does need to be the only dog in the home, she really doesnt like other dogs in her space at all and will have a go at them if they get too close, even when out on a walk, she particularly dislikes light
coloured dogs for some reason and when she spotted herself in the
mirror she threw herself at it trying to bite her reflection! We have
no way of being able to test what she is like with cats or small
children so given she is an older girl we would suggest an adult only
home or with older quieter children aged 12yrs plus.
Marge walks well on the lead and enjoys her little walks and travels
well in the car, she was brilliant at the vets and is good with the
groomer too.
Marge will need a home with a nice enclosed garden to play in and
access to some nice walks in not too busy an area as meeting lots of
dogs can be stressful for her, she deserves a quieter life where she
is treated like a princess.
Marge is being fostered in Swadlincote, South Derbys but can be
rehomed further afield subject to homecheck and adoption donation of £195
