THIS PAGE IS DEDICATED TO SPONSORING SOME OF OUR SANCTUARY RESCUE ANIMALS

This album is dedicated to those animals who have found a lifetime of sanctuary with the rescue.
This could be for a variety of reasons.  Some have medical issues, some have some behavioural problems brought on from past trauma and abuse while others are extremely elderly and just need a safe place to spend their retirement years.
What all these animals have in common is that they are now loved, safe and well cared for... something they sadly didn't experience before coming to Wonky Pets Rescue.  All these gorgeous creatures are available for sponsorship, please contact us for further details.

Truffle

Truffle is our resident chocolate alpaca boy, he is around 18/19yrs old now and the largest, strongest and greediest of the 3 boys hence his rather round shape! He is a boy with attitude but a reall sweetheart too.   They are hand fed a specialist alpaca feeds called Camelibra and Fibregest daily along with lots of good quality hay and foraging. They are sheared once a year and have beautiful soft fleece.

Dwaine (wonky legs) and Trevor are two of our resident Alpaca, both older boys who have come to live out their retirement. Dwaine has extremely wonky legs and is slower than the others so is always last one out of the paddock and last one in bless him.

Ted & Mable

Ted (grey) and Mabel (brown) are our resident donkeys, Ted is around 15yrs old and Mabel is around 18yrs. They arrived several years ago and Mabel in particular was in a terrible state, underweight and with lots of hair loss. She was so shy and fearful especially of men and we fear she had been very harshly treated by a male in the past. 5yrs on and she is so much more confident but she still has to be sedated to have her hooves trimmed by the farrier, even though the farrier is a lady! They love treats of carrots and apples and get through lots of barley straw and hay as well as Donkey chaff in the winter months. You can buy them some feed on our Amazon Wish List or if you would like to sponsor them by setting up a regular payment you can do so via PayPal to wonkypetsrescue@hotmail.co.uk or via standing order to

Pete our Show Jumping Goat

Pete came to us as an emergency after his brother escaped his original home and was killed on the road. This boy hops straight over stock proof fencing as if it isnt there and he shares his time between the rescue and our land neighbours where he loves his 2 little pygmy got girlfriends. Luckily for us we have very understanding neighbours who love Pete as much as we do despite him getting 2 lots of breakfast every day! He really does have the best of both worlds

Reggie and Ronnie the troublesome goats who really do live up to their names. They are the greediest of boys who mug me every day from the alpacas food but are also the sweetest boys when they want a fuss and to give you a kiss on the nose.

Finnegan and Shamus

Finnegan & Shamus 10 yr old pygmy boys who came here 5 yrs ago after they were trying to stab the poor resident pig! They used to be a bit of a handful until Reggie and Ronnie arrived who, being twice the size and quite formidable, soon put these two little terrors in their place so they are much better behaved nowadays.

Not only is she epileptic but she has a serious heart condition so is on two lots of daily heart meds, she has had an acute case of pancreatitis and also suffered from a ruptured eye after much treatment and ended up needing to have it removed. Honey

Honey is an 11yr old blue Shar Pei girl. We were asked to take Honey in from her owner due to a story about her moving and not being able to take her with them, sadly we were horrified when Honey was brought to us, she had the most horrific large growths on her, an awful large one on her back, two huge lumps hanging from her behind and lots of other smaller lumps on various parts of her body, none of this had been mentioned by her owner who when quizzed said her vets had said they were nothing and to leave them alone!

Well we certainly weren't going to do nothing and we got Honey booked straight in with our wonderful vets who removed the horrible large lumps and after sending them off for testing they were found to be benign form of cutaneous melanoma (in other words harmless). She does have a number of small lumps on various parts of her body as it was impossible to take all of them but they seem to not be growing (or are very slow growing) and not causing any issues for her but they will just need to be kept an eye on.
Honey was sadly also found to be a little incontinent after she arrived with us but since starting on Propalin twice a day she is now sooo much better. Honey will now stay with us at Wonky Pets Rescue.
