Henry is a 22 month old red working cocker boy, he is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, flea and worm treated an will be rehomed with 5 weeks free pet insurance.
Henry was in a family home until 4 months ago when he bit the lady owner on the face and things went downhill for him from there. She wanted him PTS but his breeder agreed to take him back, unfortunately she badly mishandled him and he also bit her so she passed him onto a dog walker who then passed him onto a behaviourist (who didnt deal with dogs with any kind of aggression issue) where he bit again after being manhandled to much too quickly so was facing euthanasia yet again. All this happened in the space of 3 weeks, the poor lad was so very confused.
Luckily I heard about his plight and convinced the behaviourist that he should come to me for assessment and rehab. That was 4 months ago and guess what....I haven't been bitten Henry is a VERY different dog now to the confused boy who arrived here.
Henry is a really super bright, super high energy, full of life young spaniel, he is very loving and tactile HOWEVER he does display some pretty full on resource guarding at times, its clearly a learnt behaviour that has been badly handled with him in the past in his case, hence him now thinking the only way to keep people away is to use his teeth. The guarding is really minimal here as he doesnt really feel the need to do it but that may manifest itself again in a new environment. Managed correctly its not been a problem here but there is no doubt he would bite again if not handled in the right way.
WE ARE LOOKING FOR A VERY EXPERIENCED SPANIEL SAVVY HOME WITH PEOPLE WHO HAVE PREVIOUSLY LIVED WITH A RESOURCE GUARDER AND UNDERSTAND HOW THEY NEED TO BE MANAGED.
Henry IS NOT a dog for novices or people who havent lived with a guarder with strong bite potential if mishandled!!
