WE ARE EXPECTING A LOT OF INTEREST IN THIS GIRL SO PLEASE ONLY APPLY IF YOU MEET THE CRITERIA IN FULL OTHERWISE YOU ARE WASTING YOUR TIME AND OURS.  MAKE YOUR APPLICATION DETAILED AND STAND OUT FROM THE CROWD - ONE LINE APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE REPLIED TO.

Rue is a 1yr old red and white cocker spaniel, she is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, flea and worm treated and will be rehomed with 5 weeks free pet insurance.

Rue was found dumped on the side of the road with a badly injured eye which had a penetrative wound meaning her eye had to be enucleated as it could not be saved. She recovered from that surgery really well and has since also been spayed.

Rue is seeking an experienced and VERY active spaniel savvy home. Rue is a typical bonkers 1yr old cocker, she is FULL of energy, mischief and life and is very much still a pup in lots of her antics. She has obviously lacked some normal socialisation around a home life, she was fascinated by a TV, but she is loving having plenty of home comforts.

Like lots of young cockers she can be a bit of a thief but accept swopping for a treat with gusto, she jumps up for attention but absolutely loves plenty of fuss and cuddles.

She loves playing with other dogs here, out and about she is perfect with them but she has been possessive with toys on occasion and can get a little over the top with some other less assertive dogs here, she has no food aggression with other dogs or people though. She is probably best being the only dog in her new home or if not, any resident dog needs to be larger than her (she weighs 12.5kg), very confident and non reactive and owners need to be able to manage any initial conflict that may occur and not bounce her back at the first sign of any issues.  She gets on amazingly with our other young male cocker Blake if you fancy a ready made pair :)

Rue needs a home that is in a more rural location, she isnt an inner city kind of girl and lots of busy traffic is too much for her, she needs owners who are very fit and active, who can walk for miles with her on a daily basis and provide her with the mental and physical exercise these young spaniels need.  She is ok being left for a few hours in the day but wouldnt suit a home where she was on her own for hours.

We are happy to consider homes with resident dog savvy children aged 6yrs and over for Rue as she is very sweet tempered with everyone she has met. She hasnt been fully cat tested but is probably workable around a very dog savvy cat who won't run.

She gets a little worried travelling in the car but soon gets over it, she was brilliant with the vets who all fell in love with her. She walks well on the lead and her recall is ok but needs some further work as she is easily distracted.  She is getting there with her housetraining but you should expect the odd accident at first.

She will of course need a home with a nice secure garden to play in and access to some nice rural walks.

Rue is being fostered in Swadlincote, South Derbys but can be rehomed further afield subject to homecheck and adoption donation of £300
