Teddy is a large apricot Cockapoo boy, he is 2yrs old, neutered, fully vaccinated, microchipped, flea and worm treated and will be rehomed with 5 weeks free pet insurance.

Teddy came to us several weeks ago from another rescue after they weren't confident in finding the right home. He was originally handed to them due to resource guarding in his first home where there were very young children. He was placed into a home with 2 adults and due to not really understanding his issue he was returned just a couple of weeks later for guarding the lady and biting the male of the house. He then had a complete meltdown when placed in kennels before we were able to step in to take him.

When he arrived he was understandably anxious and a bit stressed, yet another move for him and the first 24hrs showed me his "default" mode of trying to stop one of the other dogs coming to me (ie guarding his resource that gave him security, ie me!) but this was quickly dealt with by me moving away from him and going over to fuss the other dog while telling him to stay where he was. Unfortunately a rehoming attempt ended up in a very traumatic event for poor Teddy (not his fault or anything directly to do with him and we will explain in full to genuinely interested parties) and it really set him back a lot so he has been back with us for a while being reassessed and being allowed to decompress but we feel he is now ready to find his special people.

Teddy tends to space guard now, he will be reactive if someone he doesn't trust or another dog enters his space, he has never bitten here but he can appear a bit challenging when this happens so he needs a home with a very confident owner who will not show that they are fearful of him. He likes to have his own space where he can be left alone.

Teddy is actually an absolutely adorable boy, he is FULL of beans, always on the go, springs around like a lamb and runs full pelt at you full of joy...only thing we needed to work on was him them launching himself at you full pelt too ! He has improved greatly with his jumping up but can still get over excited so this will still need further work.

He walks ok on the lead but really LOVES to be off running, he has really good recall and is friendly with all dogs and people he has met out and about. He travels ok in the car, is good at the vets and is a lovely boy to groom. His coat grows quickly and is very thick so he needs a good groom every 6- 8 weeks. He loves water either paddling in a pond or in a dog pool in the garden.

Teddy is clean in the house and non destructive, he is fine being left a few hours with a canine pal and sleeps quietly downstairs at night. He has no issues around food.

Teddy is looking for a really active adult only home with ideally a single person or an experienced couple due to his previous bite history. He 100% needs another young, neutered, playful poo or spaniel type in the home and will suit a more rural environment if possible. He cannot live with cats sadly but isnt bothered by livestock here.

Being fostered in Swadlincote but can be rehomed further afield subject to homecheck and donation of £250
