Corbin.jpg

Corbin is a 8yr old border terrier cross shar pei, he is around 11.5kg in weight and medium sized. He is now castrated, microchipped, vaccinated and had a wart removed from his back leg. He has a clean bill of health and will be rehomed with 5 weeks free pet insurance.

Corbin came to us as a stray, he had served his stray hold in the pound and was due to be put to sleep as no other rescues offered to take him. He really didn't deserve that when he had done nothing wrong apart to find himself abandoned so we stepped in to help.

Corbin settled into his foster home really well, he seemed so relieved to be back in a home as he had found kennels quite scary. He has been no trouble in the home, he settled into his cosy bed, has been clean and non destructive and is even happy to be left a few hours, he just settles and sleeps, although he does enjoy the sofa.

Corbin definitely has quite strong and typical shar pei traits and would benefit from a home who understands the breed and their quirks even though he is a cross. He takes a little bit of time to get to know and bond with you and can be stand offish at first, once he bonds with you he loves you, particularly if you are a man.

He doesn't want to be over handled and whilst he enjoys a fuss and is very playful once settled he will give you a grumble warning if you overstep the mark and he needs his space. There has been one incident when his fosterer was untangling his lead on a walk where he snapped but it was a warning nip and didn't break the skin but we want to be open and honest as we are with all of our animals.

Corbin wasn't a fan of the vets, again a very typical pei trait, when scared or confined and approached by strangers their automatic response is to be guarded and warn them away.

He arrived with sore thinking skin on is back and an obvious sore and infected ear, whilst under sedation his ear was flushed out and a month long treatment applied which is doing its job and he is now much more comfortable. He has been on a nice quality grain free diet since being with us and his skin is looking great.

Corbin is a lovely companion dog, he isn't demanding, he is well behaved in the home and good on walks, he walks ok on the lead and is very happy meeting most other dogs and people when out with no issues at all.

He can be rehomed as the only dog or could potentially live with another similar sized and natured neutered dog. He will chase cats, small furries and birds so needs a home without these other pets. He seems to really enjoy the company of children when out and about and is relaxed around them but due to his nip we are seeking a home with older dog savvy children over 14yrs or an adult only home please.

Being fostered in Northampton but can be rehomed further afield to the right experienced home subject to home check and adoption donation of £200
