Scruff and Nico are mother and daughter and are a bonded pair that we really don't want to split. Scruff is 5yrs old and Nico 2 1/2yrs, they are both spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, flea and worm treated and will be rehomed with 5 weeks free pet insurance.
Scruff and Nico came to us as an emergency along with Badger and Bebe and one other cat, their owner clearly hadn't been coping for a long time and the cats had been put at serious risk and were living in squalid, damp conditions.
They were all skinny, running with fleas, full of worms and Nico was on deaths door, dehydrated and full of cat flu. It was immediately noted that she had badly scarred eyes and that she didn't have great vision. Our initial priority was to get her over the flu and with some intensive nursing she blossomed and made a good recovery. We got her in with our eye specialist vet who confirmed that she had old scarring on one eye but still had some vision but her eye that was less scared actually had the worst sight. We also ran some bloods to check nothing else was underlying and all else was fine. Nico and see well enough to get around, climb and play, she is very kitten like and possibly has some neuro deficit from being interbred as none of these
cats were neutered and Scruff had had many litters.
Scruff is a healthy girl who delivered another single kitten soon
after arriving with us, thank goodness no more babies for her now she has been spayed. She is a healthy girl and is good condition now she had had all the proper care she needed.
Both girls are sweet, loving girls who enjoy a fuss, Nico is very
bonded to her mum and relies on her quite a bit.
Both girls love their wet and dry food and eat really well. Their big
issue however is despite us trying every trick in the book they refuse to use a litter tray but they will toilet in one spot using puppy pads. Now we know this is going to be a big issue for so many people, their past experience of toileting anywhere they could in a filthy environment has left a lasting impact on their litter tray experience but the puppy pads have worked well for us in foster and if someone had a home with access to a nice catio attached to the house where perhaps the latrine area could be for the girls this could be an ideal solution.
Due to Nico's vision impairment they will need either an indoor only home or one with a catio or cat proofed garden (this would be ideal). They can live with other fully vaccinated cats, they are probably flu carriers although well themselves so bear this in mind if you have other cats. They can live with calm cat friendly dogs and are fine with sensible children too.
Being fostered in Swadlincote, Derby's but can be rehomed further afield to the right dedicated home subject to home check and adoption donation of £100 for the pair, the right home is more important than the donation if we are honest.
If you feel you can be that special person to offer these girls that
special home after all they have endured please email us telling us all about your home offer including FULL ADDRESS AND CONTACT NUMBER to wonkypetsrescue@gmail.com
