PLEASE ONLY APPLY IF YOU MEET HIS HOMING REQUIREMENTS AS DETAILED IN THE WRITE UP.

Oscar is a nearly 9 month old black and tan working cocker boy, he is fully vaccinated, microchipped, flea and worm treated. He is too young to be neutered yet, he needs to mature much more first but he will be rehomed on a neutering contract whereby he must be castrated at the relevant time. He can either return to one of our vets in Swadlincote, Tamworth or Northampton for the procedure if rehomed locally enough or if further afield we will contribute what the cost of his castrate would have been at our vets.   Oscar will be rehomed with 5 weeks free pet insurance.

Oscar came to us after he had been in a totally unsuitable home, he was living in a flat in London and his owner was struggling with mental health,  everything was so wrong for a pup like him.

Oscar arrived seriously underweight as the owner had battled with tummy issues with him since a tiny pup but it seems there had been no consistency around food and finding something that suited him and as a result everything was going straight through him, coupled with his high energy he simply wasn't retaining enough calories.

We approached Oscar's medical issue with a clean slate, we put him onto a gastrointestinal and hypoallergenic diet of wet and dry food which he tolerated really well along with some nice Vitamin B12 supplement and probiotics. Well his stools are now absolutely perfect, he is loving his food and has gained several kilo's and looks and feels fantastic. It will be important that he remains on this type of food for now while his bowels fully mature and settle and then other things may be able to be reintroduced down the line.

Now onto the boy himself.....well what can we say about him. He is adorable, he is handsome, he is super super super lively and absolutely bonkers!  We have a lot of cockers here but Oscar is one of the busiest, highest energy spaniels we have had, everything in Oscar's world is at a million miles an hour, life is fun and exciting and balls are his absolute world!   He is always on the go, nose down, tail up and wagging and scouting the ground for smells and of course any balls or toys he can find.  He also has a very loving nature and whilst any attention he gets is met with way too much over enthusiasm he is a sweet boy.

Oscar needs a VERY active, spaniel savvy home who is used to a very high energy dog, he knows his basic commands when he chooses to listen but will jump up a lot and definitely needs some training input. His recall however is good, he will fetch and drop his ball and toys now and he will start to settle in the house once he has burnt off some energy on a lengthy off lead walk and play in the paddock but you must be prepared for a pup that's on the go a lot.  He gets fed in an enclosed area here so we can make sure he only has his correct food but he soon shouts to come out and doesnt enjoy a crate for any other reason, we believe he was possibly shut in a crate a lot in his previous home.

Oscar loves other dogs and after arriving pretty fearful of other canines (he was apparently attacked by a larger dog in a London park who bit his tail), he now loves their company and thoroughly enjoys running around with them, playing wrestling with his young friends and snuggling down with them at night so we definitely want a home for him that has another young neutered active working breed who he can form a friendship with.

He has had enough of city life, it really isnt for him so we are seeking a rural home with someone who has plenty of open space either of their own or easy access to lovely countryside walks on the doorstep. You will need to be young, fit and active enough to keep up with this young boy to be able to give him what he needs.

His housetraining was non existent on arrival with us but is now much much better, he is 90% there although will occasionally forget himself. He hasnt been destructive in the home, he sleeps down stairs quietly at night with the other dogs, travels well in the car, is great with the vet apart from trying to kiss them and be super wriggly.

Oscar not only loves other dogs now but he has also been good with our livestock and pretty much ignores them, he could learn to live with a dog savvy cat who will stand their ground, he has no malice in him. We are happy to consider homes with dog savvy children aged 8yrs and over who are used to dogs that may jump up a lot.

Being fostered in Swadlincote, Derbys but can be rehomed further afield subject to home check and adoption donation of £350
