Buddy is a 9yr old Yorkshire Terrier, he is neutered, microchipped, fully vaccinated, flea and worm treated. He will be rehomed with 5 weeks free pet insurance and has a clean bill of health.
Buddy came to us via the dog warden after he was signed over. He has had a really rough life bless him spending years living outside a caravan on a chain and clearly given a hard hand and foot at times. His rough treatment has left him an anxious lad and he is reactive to certain people, sudden movements and over handling.
Buddy arrived in a terribly matted, smelly state he hadnt been groomed in years, he was very fear aggressive at first as he was so scared and took some time to settle into his foster home and start to trust. Now his foster mum has built a bond with him he lets her do most things and loves to jump on her lap for a cuddle and a fuss but new people or men need to take things very slow and be hands off to let him get to know them. By slowly we are talking weeks, not hours or days, Buddy will bite if startled or over fussed by people he doesnt trust 100%. WE NEED A HOME WITH EXPERIENCE OF AN ANXIOUS BITER LIKE BUDDY WHO CLEARLY UNDERSTAND THE HANDS OFF APPROACH AND HAS THE PATIENCE AND COMMITMENT TO STICK WITH HIM.
Buddy is generally good with other dogs, he is sharing his home with lots of other little ones and there is only one young male dog that he doesnt see eye to eye with. He could live with a mature small spayed female dog quite happily possibly an older laid back neutered male or could be an only dog in the right home. He will bark at cats when he cant get to them but is actually a bit scared of them if they stand their ground. Buddy CANNOT BE HOMED WITH CHILDREN OR WHERE THERE ARE REGULARLY VISITING SMALL CHILDREN.
He is housetrained, sleeps quietly at night, walks ok on the lead (we dont let him off so dont know what his recall is like) and he travels ok in the car. He is anxious with the vet and care needs to be taken, he needs desensitising to the grooming process too but is quite short atm as he had to be shaved off so there is time to work on this before the clippers need to come out again.
He will need a home with a nice fully enclosed garden to play in.
Being fostered in Swadlincote, Derbys but can be rehomed further afield subject to homecheck and donation of £250
